The Catholic Church celebrates the sacrament of Eucharist as the chief act of worship. Through the preparation process, children in grade 2 or higher and their families deepen their understanding of this sacred mystery. The Sacrament of Eucharist is celebrated with the communicants and their families in the parish during April or May. Attendance at Mass one year prior to receiving Eucharist is required.  If the child is not attending a Catholic School, attendance at Religious Education classes on year prior to preparing for First Eucharist is required.
